What is IrisWall Lite?

IrisWall Lite is a wall panel system manufactured by Environmental Wall Systems (EWS) that offers the major benefits of a high end movable wall sysem at about half the cost. Unlike drywall, IrisWall Lite panels are movable and reusable. IrisWall Lite can be installed in one area of your building and then taken down and reused in another. The wall panels offer about the same privacy (or STC rating) as drywall.

Where can IrisWall Lite be used?

IrisWall Lite is a replacement for drywall so you can use IrisWall Lite in almost any place you would install drywall. Note that IrisWall Lite is classified as furniture because it is not permanently attached to a building with screws or nails. State building codes often require fixed walls in certain places (ex. bathrooms). Check your state building code to determine where fixed walls are required.

How does IrisWall Lite save us money?

IrisWall Lite saves money on material and labor costs. You don’t have to buy new sheets of drywall each time a building is refurbished. Simply, reconfigure your building layouts by reusing the IrisWall Lite panels you have. In addition, the average time it takes to install 12 feet of drywall is a little over 3 hours. The average time it takes to install 12 feet of IrisWall Lite is less than 30 minutes which lowers your installation costs by more than 84.5%. Unlike drywall which is depreciated over 30 years, IrisWall Lite is considered furntiure by the IRS and can be depreciated over 8 years giving you an instant tax savings.

How does IrisWall Lite fit into a building?

In most cases, IrisWall Lite clips into the ceiling grid. The ceiling grid clip holds up a ceiling track. Installers plumb down from the ceiling track to the floor and install a floor track which is fixed in place by carpet grippers or double-sided tape. Panels are installed into the ceiling track and floor track and sealed together by a feature strip that locks the panels in place. A rubber base then snaps into the floor track adding a finished base. Note that IrisWall Lite can accomodate almost all ceiling types including drywall ceilings with no ceiling grid.

Can the panels be easily knocked out of place?

No. IrisWall Lite is as sturdy as drywall. Extreme force would be required to knock a panel out of place.

Will the panels damage the ceiling grid?

No. A IrisWall Lite panel weighs 60 lbs. The floor supports the panel weight, not the ceiling grid.

Does IrisWall Lite come with Door Units?

Yes. EWS does provide doors. Customers often want to use their own doors. In those cases, EWS ships a panel with a door frame cutout so that a customer’s door can be installed.

Does IrisWall Lite come with Electrical outlets and Data connections in the panels?

Yes. EWS ships panels that are pre-wired with electrical outlets and data connections. Electrial whips run through a race way in the electrical panels up to the ceiling or down to the floor based on your specifications. An electrician then simply runs the electrical wiring through the ceiling or floor to the J-box to connect the wiring.

What finishes are available on the IrisWall Lite Panels?

Standard IrisWall Lite panels are solid panels that come with a fabric or vinyl finish. Addtional finishes are available at the customer’s request.

What is the height, width, thickness, and weight of the IrisWall Lite panels?

Standard IrisWall Lite panels have the following specifications:

48”, 36”, 24”, 12”, and 6” width
2.25” thick
60 lbs for a 48” panel
Panel height is job specific.

What if a panel does not fit?

Each panel is equipped with leveler legs that allow installers to adjust the height by up to three inches vertically. Panels can also be cut at the job site by a common circular saw to a non-standard width. The cut panel would then be installed where the system meets a wall. A finished end piece, which ships with all orders, would cover the cut panel giving a finished look to the system. The wall and the adjacent panel hold up the cut panel inside the finished end.

What is the product lead time for orders?

4-6 weeks.
